A HAT FOR LITTLE H

When I started out to make a hat for little H for after her hair loss from Chemo, I thought it would be fast and easy. Finally after 2 days of ripping and thinking and sewing I came up with one hat that I think a little 2 1/2 yr. old will like. I love the fabric. It's soft cotton knit with a little give to it, perfect for Florida weather.

After making the first hat from the Martha Stewart design, I hated the square top. I also forgot about decorations. Since she is only 2 1/2, I wanted to make sure none of the decorations could come off so I had to sew them into the hat. I also had a lot of trouble not having a small child to measure the hat on as I went along. The hat is stuffed in the photo. This doll has a small doll head but I think this will be the right size to fit little H. Now maybe the rest of the hats will go a little faster!

I finished all the hats this morning. I went back and put a liner over the inside seams in the top so they will be soft against her head. I got 2 hats out of each piece of fabric but made the decorations different on each. They'll go into the mail tomorrow.

She will love them. These looks so much more comfortable then the ones that tie. I think they will probably stay on better too. I was thinking H was 6. She may not be able to use the gifts I sent her.

Holee, I'm not much of a hat or doll type of guy, but the hats are cute and the doll is even cuter. And you're a special person for what you do.
