I've been dealing with 15 radiation treatments this past month. It was a lot harder then I expected it to be. The burns and blisters are just now leaving and finally I am able to stay awake for most of the day.
I needed something to do sitting down so I started working on ripping out the stitches of one of the last quilts I will be making. I don't know why I used dark purple to quilt it with but it's not for me! I've been snipping the back and snipping the front and picking the stitches out with a tweezers for weeks. It finally got to me today! I felt like ripping the quilt up and throwing it as far as my weak arms could manage.
Instead I put it aside for now. I only have 6 more blocks to do so maybe next week I can handle it again. I'll use white or a pastel to quilt it with this time. I looked at my friends quilt that she did with dark orange and I like it. I just didn't like mine.
It just put me in a rare mood that I wanted to do something naughty or not so nice....so I turned to the train platform to help out my naughty artistic feelings. I started with a waterfall and lots of foam like waterfalls produce. Then I picked out several 2 inch people, sanded their clothing off and dabbed them with a little paint...he he he....naughty, naughty....I'm sure this has put me on Santa's list! But the people look like they are having fun...like the hot springs in Colo. that I used to enjoy when I lived there. I need to add one more person laying on the rocks. Mr. Man is wearing a brown bathing suit. I should have made it blue or green and maybe I'll do that if my hands are steady enough. My naughty people make me laugh!

Treatment starts
I made it through last week, 5 radiation treatments. They were hard. I'm left with 80% more pain then before we started. They told me these are side effects. The tumor is most likely fighting back and swollen against a nerve which is causing the pain. They asked what I wanted to do..stop treatments, take a break or march on and hope I get relief.
Today was treatment 6. Tomorrow is treatment 7, and that's how I'm going to deal with it, one day at a time. The burns are much worse then they expected on my back. When I took a shower yesterday I smelled like a burning down house when I ran the warm water over myself. I just want to know when the fires will go out.
I often wondered if the little I do, like the pillow cases for the kids, matter to anyone. Now I have the answer first hand. Today they had "Feel Better" day. Everyone got to pick from beautiful things made by local ladies. Now I do all these things myself so you would think they would mean less to me. That's not true. It made me feel cared for and loved to have a beautiful handmade gift to take home. So I would say keep on supporting your local groups because all of us who are fighting need that special gift every now and again!
Here is the lap blanket I got today. I love the soft sage and off white. Now how to find out how to thank these ladies and maybe add some wool to their collection to replace what they used.

Snow...ugh
Give that pretty fluffy snow a day or two and you'll end up with dirty rotting piles of mush. It was just too much for this old house to get through 30+ inches without a leak...
As the day went on the drips started causing lots of work to move the furniture out of the way and cover the floor with plastic. I'm starting radiation on Monday and didn't really need to have this to deal with. As long as it doesn't rain we'll be okay!
Spring is just around the corner!

A New Year, and I made it
I wish I knew how to add UTube to this blog. OH well, here is a photo of our train platform in progress. This is the quilt shop.
I'll start adding the snow soon. That gives it a finished look.
